A game of Mahjong is already good enough as it is, but the infusion of an interesting storyline is something that you don’t find in your ordinary Mahjong game. For instance, Mahjong Quest 3 introduces a plot line that is not only sensible, but also one that you might find some life-changing lessons from.

The main storyline, Kwazi’s Quest, is about a middle-aged farmer who had been transformed back into a baby by a mystic. Kwazi had asked about what was the purpose of having a very short life. Aiming to teach Kwazi about the different purposes in life like money, happiness and ambition, the monk sends him back to childhood. You will then play his story through a series of Mahjong levels.

The gameplay is pure vanilla – you simply find the tiles that match, and click on both of them to remove them from the board. When you remove the tiles, you also free up other tiles in their vicinity. In the Kwazi’s Quest storyline, the game automatically grays out the tiles that are covered and cannot be matched up just yet.

When matching up tiles, there are exceptions to the pairing rule. Flowers and season tiles can be paired with one another, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time looking for their twin tiles.

Once you have freed up the Yin and Yang tiles, you can pair them up and automatically end the level. Doing so, while there are still other tiles in the board, can get you a bonus that will add to your final score.

After each level, you’ll be asked a question to which you have three options for answers. Your choice will count towards Kwazi’s realization of his quest, reminiscent of what the monk had asked him before he was turned into a baby.

The three other game modes are, namely, the Variation, Tournament and Freestyle mode.

Tournament mode pits you against computer players. In addition to the pure Mahjong gameplay rules, you’ll also have to beat your competition by collecting as many silver and gold coin tiles as you can within a 7-minute time limit.

Freestyle mode is simply classic Mahjong. You pick a tile layout, customize it according to your preferences, and then you try and solve that layout. You can choose what tiles you will use and what your background will be in this mode. If you run out of matches, you’ll have to restart the game and try again.

Variations mode is almost similar to Freestyle mode, but it features alternating layouts that are used in every level.

There are plenty of great features that you can enjoy when you play Mahjong Quest 3. To fully experience these great features, install a copy from the Wild Tangent website. Upon installing, you have one fully free session that you can use to get a feel before you buy the game. Mahjong Quest 3 Summary
