Ancient Trijong is a pretty high quality mahjong game that’s based off most of the traditional concepts of the genre but manages to add enough unique things of its own to make it feel like a distinct game. For one thing, it re-invents its typical game by pitching in some mechanics from your usual solitaire game. Nonetheless, it’s one of those games that does everything right and so it’s recommended to get started trying it out.
As the onset, getting you onto the game for the first time, the first level you play will also double up as a tutorial level. This level will guide you through all the necessary basics of the game. There’s not much else to say other than the fact that the tutorial level is quite concise and therefore does a great job of teaching what it needs you to get properly guided into the game – to get you easily following up on the latter levels of the game.
The gameplay of Ancient Trijong is of two types. The first type is the Quest gameplay the pretty much the campaign mode. It consists of an array of different mahjong layouts that are based off the usual tiles found in most mahjong games. The significant difference is the value found therein (in the tiles), scored with values like that of the usual 56 piece deck of cards. The best part about the Quest mode is that you can play towards the laid out progress given by the game, without having to concisely configure your game with settings. With this comes the surprise value of every game and sections found there as well. All in all, there are 15 sections in the game, each of which hones 10 levels to beat.
The second type of gameplay mode is more like of a classic gameplay where you easily get to choose any layout of your liking to get you challenged and readily playing for any custom match. In this mode you won’t be given any bit of a backstory and ultimately set you with laid in stone challenges with the library of layouts to pick prior to playing any match. Both game modes are great and are able to cater to players of different preferences.
Presentation wise, Ancient Trijong isn’t the flashiest game out there but that certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t good looking. At the very least, the given sets of tiles are rendered crisp and the background environment us just clean to look at. No unnecessary clutter, just pure mahjong fun. More so, the animations are smooth so overall you can expect the top notch gameplay to be coupled with some really impressive visual aspects.
When you download Ancient Trijong for the first time you’ll be able to play it for 60 minutes on a trial basis. When the time limit of the trial expires, you’ll have the option of purchasing the game for its standard price which will lift all time restrictions and allow you to play as long as you want.
