Hello Animal – Connect Puzzle is a single-player mahjong puzzle mobile game for Android
The goal isn’t much: clear the board of all animal tiles. You’ll work on it by matching pairs of identical creatures until all pairs are removed from the playing area. The catch? You have to make sure there are no obstructions when you match a tile with its equivalent. Content is presented as levels. You either have to pair more tiles or their placements are at awkward locations that will put your brain to the test. Also, each stage has a timer to beat. Failing to complete a level before running out of time will prompt you to replay it. Ways to prevent this are going to be discussed on the next part of this review.
There’s a scoring system at play here, and it serves as a secondary challenge factor to the most difficult placings of tiles. Your score is represented by the number of stars made after successfully pairing two animal tokens. The distance between Tile X and Tile Y is based on the number of empty grid spaces. The farther the pairing, the higher the score. This is going to force you to adapt different methods to get the most points out of a successful pairing. You will often make mistakes as you poke around various tiles to get a proper opening to clear the rest of the tokens. There are times when you make a bad opening that makes your situation more challenging than before.
The good thing about this game is that there is no energy or stamina to limit your number of retries. You can also pause your playthrough and think of things for a short time. Your screen will be blocked though, so exploiting the pause button isn’t going to offer you much of an advantage.

These one-use items come with nifty abilities that can significantly reduce the tough areas of a level. The hammer tool instantly removes a single animal pair – pretty nifty if a single token is the only obstacle standing between you and a quick combination of multiple pairs. There’s the light bulb tool to highlight which two tokens can you easily remove from play. The switch tool randomly rearranges all tiles on the field for a better chance of easily beating the level. You can get these tools by either spinning a prize roulette that resets daily, watching ads, buying them with Diamonds, or making in-app purchases. Some Diamond bundles include sets of these valued boosters.
So what’s the deal with the earned stars? You won’t realize it at first, but the stars fill a reward gauge with valuable in-game items inside. Completing the required number opens the box and lets you get its contents. You won’t know what’s inside until you get what the mysterious gift needs. The competitive player in you will appreciate that server rankings are computed according to the number of stars you’ve earned while playing. There are two rankings to vie for supremacy in your country rank and the global rank.
